Review: No-Excuse Guide to Self-Promotion

If you're working in the arts and handle your own publicity/networking (as artists do more and more), please check out I'd Rather Be in the Studio: The Artist's No-Excuse Guide to Self-Promotion, by Alyson B. Stanfield.  While geared toward visual artists, it's useful for all sorts of storytellers:  Writers (like me), independent acts, small theatres/production companies, and actors come to mind immediately.

On Sweet Enemy's recommendation, I ordered a copy for my boyfriend, who's a painter.  Before giving him the book, I paged through it.  Even though - at some point - I'd come across most of the advice in this book, I'd never seen it all in once place, let alone in such a user-friendly guide.

I ended up ordering myself a copy to keep and refer back to - to remind myself of all these good practices and to help me keep track of it all. On top of having those loads of good advice, this book is neatly laid out and is fluff-free, both of which make it easy to navigate.
